Ariadne….daughter of the Cretan king Minoas and Pasiphae. After falling in love with the Athenian hero Theseus, with a thread or glittering jewels she helped him escape the labyrinth after he slew the Minotaur. That is a legendary beast with the body of a man and the head of a bull that Minoas kept in the labyrinth.
